Can't wait to photograph these owlets again this season. They are simply so much fun to watch and photograph. This is one of my favorites from last year. They simply have SO much personality and can be very comical. This was photographed in horizontal and cropped to vertical.

Canon 1D3, Canon 100-400
F6.3, 1/2000sec, ISO 400, manual mode
Handheld down on the ground

C & C always welcomed and much appreciated.

Marina, what a pose. perfect shooting angle to get that sweet BG. I'd crop it differently though...keep the owl a little to the right of the center line.

those eyes are quite spooky.

Wonderful shot. I just love the pose, wonderful background especially with the flowers, excellent detail, great light, and I agree about the eyes being spooky.
Very well done.

Love it, Marina. Really like the IQ, BG and textures of the feathers. Wonderful head tilt. I'm with Kaustubh on the crop, for some reason I feel like that head tilt direction calls for more room on left than right but that is perhaps a very subjective thing.

A nice different pose. I also think a bit off the top would look nice.

Hi Marina, The BG is terrific. It is so hard to get a nice BG with these guys. I love the cocked head and the flowers. I would love for you to post a version with more room on the left although I do like this composition. Great IQ as always,
Gail
