Finally home from my 2 week long workshops in Florida and wanted to share another spoonbill from my 4 days on the boat with Capt. James and my clients. There were quite a few adults in full breeding plumage as well as nest building. I liked this one as he landed against the dark mangroves on one morning out. I don't think I have enough time to go through all my images on the days out with him!
Canon 1D Mark lll with the Sigma 300-800 at 800mm and f/8 and 1/4000 sec. at ISO 800 all tripod mounted, wimberly head, in water. Slight crop and beach clean up......decided to leave reast of beach stuff in but could easily clean it up.

You definately came home with some great spoonie shots. I myself can't wait to go out again with the captain and friends. Nice wing detail and color. Should this be rotated?

Roman:

This is a fine looking adult, great pose, black BG makes him pop.

Yes to some CCW rotation, and I might try and tease out a bit more detail in the whites on his shoulders.

Cheers

Great wing position, sharp and well exposed. Colors look very good.

Love how the spoonie really pops against the BG, Roman. Great job on the exposure and timing. Looks like you had a very productive outing with James and great weather. Looking forward to more!

Another vote for CCW rotation. The bird is exposed perfectly and really pops against the BG. I really like the pose as well. Why does the sand bar look grainy? Not a criticism just wondering what causes this,
