First green heron of spring and I am so happy not to be shooting
nutria rats, frogs and snakes while waiting for birds.
The light was harsh and high overhead as he was watching some noisy crows
400mm, w/1.4z TC, 1/1000, f/9, +.33 ev

I like it a lot Dave Particularly the head turn Would crop a bit from the bottom !!!!

I agree with Alfred. The heron is too high in the frame. Otherwise very nice!

Very nice, Dave! Good colors and sharpness. Headturn the major plus! And I like it just the way it is!

Very nice image Dave. Sharp detail and nice clean bg. I think it would look good cropped on the bottom, perhaps with the fence post in the lower RH corner., Good capture!

thanks all for input/critique.
Here is a recrop with a bit off the bottom. Wanted to avoid putting branch "in" the corner.
He is perched on a down cypress branch over a duckweed covered bayou
