Captured in the Savegre Valley, CR
Cute and fast I was pleased to get this nice pose after seeing a few of these; opportunities for shots pretty thin even over two weeks walking the river trails.
very small at just 4 inches too

I like the composition with the bird small in the frame. A crop to lose some of distractions in bg is another idea but not sure if IQ of bird would stand up. Lovely pose in some pretty rugged landscape.

This would look nice as a black and white. Is this a big crop Richard? The IQ on the bird seems to be lacking and there isn't much detail in the blacks. Is this bird black and white in real life? I agree a crop from the right to the diagonal rock and from the bottom would be better but only if IQ holds up,

I will try some crop options; crop is already about 40% of original,small bird in large environment, which is really why I didnt try to blow her up more .

Gail -the bird is indeed black, grey and white.There is another bird around - the American Dipper, which is almost identical though plumper! The scene as is is colour though yuo'd hardly know it. Natural selection at its best? foaming white water, black rocks etc.
