Not much success with the bighorns this past year. This was one of the better ones. I finally calibrated my monitor using the Spyder 3 I bought last year, so if anything looks off, don't hesitate to let me know. Conditions were sunny and cold. 7D, 400DO + 1.4xTC, f5.6, 1/2500s, ISO 200, tripod mount, full frame.

Hi Steve, everything looks fine to me with regards to colour, especially the detail on the bighorn - and you have the sharpness spot on too. I like how we can see the surrounding snow, and your choice of comp works well. Him chewing some grass adds interest. Cheers.

Steve,
I agree: the color looks fine, as does sharpness. I find the Ewe's head a little too centered and would crop off a little off the top to raise her head above center.

Steve,

Color looks great. I see Roger's point but think I know why you cropped it this way - the larger dark rock on the BG works better if it is not cut as would happen with a lower crop.

Steve - color and detail all look great. Comp doesn't bother me and the grass in the mouth adds to the image.

Color and techs look good to me also. I would crop some off top like Roger says to bring head above center.

Hi Steve I think you used Canon DPP on this, make sure if you export it's RGB not Canons presets ie sRGB 1.31, then in PS Convert to Profile to sRGB.

I just tweaked the Levels, ie brought the sliders in a fraction to meet the base lines and added just a fraction of USM, love the crop as presented.

Steve C,

Very nice indeed I always find that a little bit of grass in the mouth adds interest and this is no exception. On initial view the crop looks unbalanced but it is not, I prefer the mure muted colours of your OP.

Like the image as posted. Haven't seen many shots from the 400 DO w/ TC...great sharpness.

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. Good to know my calibration didn't totally throw things out of whack.

Robert,
You're correct on the assumption of the rock. I also wanted to try to capture the slope of the mountain behind her.

Steve,
Thanks for the repost. I see a subtle difference in contrast and sharpness.
