Winter American Robin.

This winter has been THE winter to observe this species in a winter setting up here. This guy perched atop a small knoll on the snow and was eyeing a watering hole located just below the frame. A stray twig cloned out at left. No flash used, but the big time light diffusion created by the snow!!

Canon 7D + 100-400L @375mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/320s., f/7.1, ISO 800, +3 EC, natural light, handheld, slight crop for composition. I'm toying the idea of cloning out the hole in the snow directly below the robin...

What a fresh, crisp look to this fellow. I feel the hole in the snow adds texture and character to the image. Wouldn't change a thing. We've had a lot of them around here as well, but not much snow this year.
