We head down to the dock in the icy cold every morning at 4:45am. Rausu, Hokkaido, Japan. Our first morning was cloudy, our second snowy. Blurs to start for sure. This one from the snowy morning. Hand held Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS lens with the 1.4XIII TC and the EOS-1D Mark IV. ISO 200. Evaluative metering +1 2/3 stops in Tv mode: 1/30 sec. at f/4.5. I must have gotten lucky as they eye in the original was pretty darned sharp.

Don't be shy; all honest comments welcome.

This is probably my favorite of your blurs Artie! I love the sharp head and the neat blur effects on the outspread wings.

This really conveys the harshness of the weather plus the magnificence of the eagle. I really like the symmetrical effect of the blur on both wings, the spread of the feathers plus blur effect on the top of both wings that for me, adds power to the image. That icy cold sounds miserable!

One of the best blurs I've seen! Gotta have some sharp elements, IMHO, and you have just the right amount, Artie!

I gotta admit this is one cool image, I agree with all the comments above. Before I pass on, this is one Eagle I just have to see...Well done

I love it. The amount of blur and the pose are great. I do see a slight halo around the bird but I am on a laptop.

Hi Arthur, what I like best about this one is the snow streaks throughout the image. Nice amount of blur too.

Artie, I concur with everyone else... one of your best blur! With sharp eye and equal blurs on the wings makes this outstanding. Great colors and bg.

Thanks all for your more than kind comments. I believe that the halo is present in the original as the image was a bit backlit. I would be glad to post it upon request.

No need to post the original, I was just pointing it out, I didn't know it was backlit.
