This image was created in the morning at 7:29am in Everglades National Park, Florida. I am pretty amazed by the accurate focusing and sharpness of using Live view with a big set-up as the 800mm/f5.6 lens combined with the TC 2.0x III. This spoonbill made the perfect model against the green reflections in the water.

This image was created with the Canon 800mm f/5.6L IS lens and the TC 2.0x III at 1600mm, and the EOS-1DMIV. ISO 800. Evaluative metering: 1/640 sec. at f/11 set manually.

All comments are welcome.

Thanks for looking.

This is a kick butt portrait, Clemens. The colors are awesome, and I like the comp and BG. Amazing the details you achieved with your set up.

It is sharp as it could be. There are very fine details in the plumage, head and beak. Nice HA. A vertical would work very well too.

Clemens:

Wonderful close up portrait, good colors, sharpness, BG, details.

It looks like a little Color Efex Pro Detail extractor was utilized.

I must say the Canon 2X seems to work better than the Nikon version. Peter Kes loaned me his 2x III and I found focusing with it a challenge.

It is no wonder that the Canon faithful aren't too happy with the 1DX's loss of f/8 focusing.

Cheers

Randy

very nice head shot, you must have been pretty far away that you needed a 800 and a 2X. color, light and BG are excellent

Arash, the distance was about 10-15 yards at the most. Full frame.

Great portrait. I have heard from my Canon friend from Asia saying that live view is better than Mirror Up.

Hi Clemens,
Perfect head angle! Love that this is full frame. Great green BG always complimentary with the pretty pinks.

hum...that seems too close for 2080mm!!! to fit the head of this big bird in the frame...but I might be wrong.

good shot anyways.

Superb detail given the extreme focal length and the fact that you shot wide open. Nice image too! :S3:
