I committed to staying a week at Morro Bay California and discovered the herons were not at the rookery as expected and did not know that to do to gets some photos. So I surfed the web and found a photo that Artie had taken on Morro Strand beach of two curlews. The next morning I headed to the beach and spent many days watching and photographing these beautiful birds.

Hi Laurie, excellent low perspective, and just love the bubbled surf splashing up on the Curlew. I really like the soft light and pastel blues of the BG too. If this were mine, I would run a touch more sharpening on the curlew, and just wish he had turned his head slightly more towards you. I bet you have plenty more to share with us, so looking forward to seeing them. :w3

Hi Laurie,
lovely action and exposure. I think you can sharp the bird a little more.

Spectacular shot of a spectacular bird. Yes to a bit more sharpening, and head turn would have been nice, but I'd take this in a heartbeat. Surf really makes the shot.

Lovely capture and the wave and texture of the surrounding waters are huge pluses. I would add some sharpening to the bird, esp the head.

Love the wave and the low angle. The tinge of blue in the water looks so nice against this bird.
One of my favorite birds - I too could spend days watching and photographing them.

I like the low angle, the setting and the wave and foam. Wish for a bit of HA towards us and sharper around the face.

Thank you all for comments. I always have trouble with sharpening - it is always to sharp or not enough. I will keep trying!
