Steller's Sea Eagle, Japan

On average, it is the heaviest eagle in the world, at about 5 to 9 kilograms (11 to 20 lb.)
This species is classified as Vulnerable (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulnerable_species) by the IUCN.

Even the bill looks heavy, solid!

Nice dorsal display, snow in the air a plus, enough detail in the snow to provide a sense of depth.

Wish he was angling a bit more our way.

Wonderful comp, and I love the snow in the air. Great flight pose, which might have been even better with a slight turn to us.
