This is a setup. Nikon D700, 300mm f2.8, 1.4tc, tripod. 1/500, f7.1, iso800. Cloudy wb set in camera. This is cropped, about 60% of the original remaining. Adjusted blacks, clarity, vibrance, saturation in acr. Small levels, S/H, usm in cs3.

Great pose, perch, BG, and detail!
Might tone down the brightest part of the lichen just a tad.
Pose may also work well as a vertical.

Jack, great perch and good exposure control. I like the way you've cropped this one -- works well.
Cheers,

Beautiful perch!!! Great pose and wonderful BG. Crop works very well. I found the WB could use a bit more warmth so I added +12 points of red in "Color Balance" (excpet for the lichen) and darkened the brightest part of the lichen as per Mike's suggestion. Hope you like.

Thanks everyone. Daniel I appreciate your effort, I think +12 was a little too much.

Hi Jack, I like the colours on the goldfinch, and that perch is a gem covered in lichen. Great BG, and I like what Dan has done, except I would come in from the right a little. :w3
