I made those 2 shots yesterday in the late afternoon at the Lauwersmeer in the Netherlands.
I tried to make some "birdscapes". I hope you like it.

I think I know what you are trying to do but I think you may have chosen the wrong perspective. I think you will need to move in closer and also use a shorter lens.

Hi there I see a lapwing and a kestrel in my backyard. Interesting to see that I can figure out the exact location. There is a lot to photograph in this area. Perspective good be better though in these images (as said before)

Sebastian, to much empty space in the first and some chaotic background elements in the second image, so I too would wish for a closer view. One other point that bothers me when looking at the second image: the way the Kestrel's is sitting in the frame directs the viewers attention outside your image, IMO it is better to have the bird looking at something inside the frame.
