Always tempted by egret species and this morning was no exception.

I too find Egrets hard to resist - such a gorgeous bird.
This image would have been stronger if the bird hadn't passed you and the head wasn't angled away.
I also see a bit of noise, especially in the shadows. At 1/8000, f6.3, iso 400, I'm guessing you had to bring up the exposure in post?

Rod,

I agree with Sidharth on the position of the egret in the frame and the head angle. The light angle is far from ideal leading to very contrasty shadows. Love the near wing with the details in the feathers but are not so happy with the far wing position. I would also crop a little from the right.

it's a nice pose but the harsh light has really hurt the image

Rod, its really difficult to catch birds in flight and you have done quite well to effectively capture the bird. The light didn't work for you.

Nice try Rod and I like the wing details but agree with the HA issue and lighting - pity we have such harsh light down here.
