Canon 50D, ss 1/2000, f5, ISO 400, 300mm2.8+1.4TC, manual exposure, HH.
Some minor crop for composition then extended canvas and added water at the top because the wing tip was right at the top of the frame.
Noise reduction, Nik tonal contrast applied to the bird.

Great capture! Looks really sharp and exposure looks good. Preference for me would be to have a bit more canvas on the right

Hi John, nice action capture - bird looks great! I like the wing position, water action, and morsel in the bill. I would definitely add some canvas on the right as the bird is past the center of frame and feels like it has no place to go but out.

Thanks, Kerry. I agree, more room in front. The original capture has more room in front and I cropped it with my usual 1.25 aspect ratio whereas I should have could have cropped 1.5. I have gone back and redone the photo with a 1.5 ratio, much better. Have to be more dilligent not to get into ruts.

John, I see where you were going with the crop and I like the splashes behind the bird. Sometimes we have to bend a little with our rules. :c3:
