This image was taken exactly 6 secs after the first Puku chase image I submitted a few days ago, to show Morkel that the Nsefu gang were indeed closing in.:w3
Yes there is noise on the lions as I tried to extract some detail here as they are obviously just OOF with my intention on the puku, the dilemma one faces trying
to extract enough S/S whilst shooting @ f/4 and ISO6400:2eyes2:.
I like how the heron is completely indifferent to the chase for life. And yes, perhaps I could have cropped out the river bank on the other side, but have left it full frame.
Immediately after this shot we had to quickly shift into reverse and follow the chase which had now progressed around the point to where the 3 pride males MGM were awaiting.:bg3:

Well done Marc, you also focused perfectly and put it on the prey which is spot on!

Funny, I just wonder about cropping off the top part of the river bank, as I see it worked on a previous image posted. :S3:

Nice action and separation of all subjects.
Probably would crop top and clone out the heron(?) on right.

Hi Marc,
Once again great action image with the prey literarily flying in the air :S3:

I stand corrected indeed...:t3:e3
IQ held up well enough for you to get great documentary images to back up your memories of the scene, Marc.
I take it MGM finished the Puku off?

I also shoot video and a scene like this hunt and kill drives me crazy trying to decide whether/when to shoot stills or video. Usually I try and do both (but not with both cameras at same time :S3: )

Marc,

Great action captured here in difficult circumstances, nice to see the Puku are stll being regularly knocked over

The newer post looks much better to me but I might knock back the green a little even if it was probably that green

Great series of images. I'm definitely in the cut the far bank camp, but the action is great regardless. The latest shot really shows how fast they are moving and the length of their respective bounds.
