Hi Jonathan, I know what you mean, just found three of them, 10 minutes from the house, just by chance about four days ago.

I like the pose, a classic, with some nice light to show off those wings, great to see them quartering. Congratulations on getting this one. Have you tried a crop being 1024 x 724, or even a portrait version having the SEO in the top RHS?

Trust you get some more in the bag before they go.

Thanks for the feedback Steve - sorry about the settings Don! I did originally try a little less deep but I wanted to keep the grass heads and a little of the smooth upper most. Have to admit I didn't consider a portrait - will have a look see.

Hi Jonathan, it might be a little big in the frame, just a thought :-) you should try and hook up with young Austin T. :S3:

Hi Jon

Like this one; partuicularly the way the background shows in graduated steps of blurring as the DOF changes
Owl is nice and sharp and the action caught very well
one of your best

Hi Jon,

very nice picture - like the composition with the habitat still visible in the bg!

A lovely shot. Nice comp showing the beautiful graded habitat. I'd be very happy with this; I'm particularly envious since my Short-ears from last year haven't shown up this winter.

I like the light shining through the left wing & the SEO's concentrated look.

Hi Jon, you never give up do you. :w3 Good hovering pose showing the wings nicely, and I do like the space he's scanning into. I like the layered BG too.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Stu - give up - me? Never, even when I get one I am satisfied with I know there will always be a better one! I have come to the conclusion that noise is inevitable so I have to deal with it. Even if I had 1D Mk IV I would still be to far away so I don't think my images would be any better, so I am messing around with Topaz NR and I am becoming a little more pleased with some of the results.

A lovely pose Jon, typical of the species. I like the light shining through the wings as well.

I guess this one is at Burton?

Cheers
