These are in the genus of birds that got me started.

Canon 1D Mark III, 100-400L IS + 1.4X TCII, handheld, no flash used
ISO 800, 1/2500 @ f/8 (wide open)
Full-frame with no cropping.

These tiny creatures were quite common around the feeders at the lodge.

Very neat little hummer. I too love these guys!

If this image were mine I would consider de-saturating it a touch - especially the BG. I'd also like to see a bit more room below and to the right if you have it?

Beautiful bird, perch, and bg. The suggestions you've received are right on the money.

Beautiful colours throughout, would maybe tone the brightness down just a tad. Wish he/she was looking more this way and also wish for a little more DOF for the tail.

Here is your photo with the brightness -15 and Contrast -44 in CS3. Then used a quickmask to select the inside of the bird and boosted the brightness up 18. Ran NR on BG after using Magic Wand to select.

Notice the detail now in the whites of his/her neck...
