Another from my 2009 trip to the Galapagos. Taken on Espanola in the late afternoon.

Canon 50D
100-400 @ 285mm
1/500
f8.0
ISO 400
HH, Luminosity mask, levels and curves adjustments, sharpened in CS5.

C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

Rachel

Nice IQ, but without an open eye, and some eye contact, this doesn't work that much for me.

My problem is that without your title, I would not have a clue as to what is going on here. I like wildlife photos that are self explanatory.

Great detail, texture and colour, however i agree with Dan, the lack of an open eye pulls the image down for me personally

The closed eye does let down the image, shame as you have nice detail and lighting here Rachel.

Thanks all, I tend to agree about the closed eye but wanted to see what others thought. Unfortunately, the pup never opened the eye while nursing. I'm not sure if it was due to all the sand or if that is how it nurses.

Thanks again,
Rachel

I like the sand stuck in the fur, but feel I also would've liked an open eye here Rachel...:e3

Interesting for me is that if this guy's chin was laying in the groove and pointing slightly up while sleeping, the sand covered, closed eye would be perfect for the image. Detail/light are nice.
