I was frustrated by clouds last night while trying to shoot the full moon so I decided to get a sunrise shot today.

Hi Allan

This is beautiful..! I love the symmetry of the bridge, the placement of the bird and the sun and the depth you have achieved with the sky... If I were to play at all it would be only be to enhance the sky/cloud a little more, but I would take it as it is any day...

Allan,

I agree, like this one for the reasons mentioned. I am confused on the two ISO settings reported.

Another option here was low ISO, small aperture and longer exposure to create the silky look to the water.

Allan, I opened this on my iPad and I am not seeing it full screen. It opened with the right edge showing. I then moved the image to show the left edge - I like this as a crop a lot better that the OP because it moves the egret and the sub to the 1/3 positions. Like the image on my uncalibrated iPad screen.

Beautiful color. I like that the sun is broken up a bit by being behind the bridge structure. At first I thought it would have been better a few minutes later with the sun above the bridge, but after looking for a while, I prefer this position.

Jay, you do have a good point on the crop. I will give it a try later today or this evening.

Robert - 4900 was the wb. Bad typing. :(

Dave, I had one with the full sun but liked this one better. Glad you agree.

Love the composition, Alan, pano works great and like where you placed sun. Good suggestions to make it stronger.

Hey Alan,
Keep Roberts suggestions in mind for the future. A slower SS will smooth out the water.

missed this one Allan
Love the colours and overall image design
this would've been even better with the slower SS as mentioned...

I tried for a lower ss yesterday to smooth the water but I did not have nd filters which were needed. Even at Iso 50 and f/22 the ss was a 1/2 or faster.
