Took this in Ecuador at Sachatemia on a trip with Nate Chappell (Trogon Tours). Quite a large bird and fairly shy. I had to take off the 1.4TC to get the whole bird in the frame. This one kept an eye on me the whole time. Taken on rainy, overcast morning. Nearly full frame.

Love the bird, the pose, the head angle, the rain, the perch, and even the moss behind the bird. But the bird is too centered. Best would be a good bit more of room in the front. Sharp with a perfect EXP.

Love the bird - agree with the comp issue.

Here's a dissenting vote RE the composition but that only amounts in more praise for you. I have no issue whatever with birds-in-the-centre. I also like square pictures! Maybe I'm a Philistine? Anyhow, this image sings out to me b/c it's truly evocative in addition to being beyond reproach in the color, exposure, IQ departments...very well done...

Great image here - the rain adds a lot! I too would like the bird to be further to the right in the frame.

nice pose and I like the rain, I would move the bird to the right as well.

Nice image Roy! I like the sharpness, pose, rain and BG. Another vote to move the bird to the right.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Here is a repost with the bird more to the right. I deliberated on the crop but every one I chose seemed to have the bulk of the bird's mass in the center, including this repost.
