I made this image last year in Florida with Doug and Jim. Shot from Jim's boat.

1D4 700mm f/5.6 1/1600sec ISO 400. I have cloned a third branch that was a bit distracting.

Nice eye contact and color....you did great with focusing on incoming bird which I find very difficult...I wish the SS was higher to freeze wings. Also I would consider cloning the nail popping out from under the right wing.

Thanks Sachin but even 1/4000sec will not freeze those wing tips :w3

good suggestion about nail popping I will clone it in the final version, thanks!

I said freeze mistakenly....I meant higher SS could have ensured slightly better wing blur :S3:

I like how I can see the red shoulders.I like the look on his face but am not fond of the overall pose. Is this a big crop Arash as I don't find this image to be the usual excellent IQ for you?

Hi Arash, excellent timing for the take off, and I like the concentrated stare. Sharp where it counts, and I do like the colours on this fellow. I wish the tail wasnt merging with the perch. :w3

Arash this is pretty cool. I dont mind the blur because I am drawn right to that face and it is sharp as needed. Super cool.

Thanks Gail, not a big crop, doesn't look bad to me from here...

Edit: Here is the large (http://www.arihazeghiphotography.com/photos/AH5151.jpg) version, IQ seems fine to me.

Very unusual pose captured! Too bad about the tail merge but I'd take it! The nail is a little tiny thing to me. BTW, the larger version seems much less saturated than this post?

I use FireFox 10 never tried google chrome...I can't seem to find any settings to adjust regarding color space, etc? I was thinking it was because of my laptop screen being tilted differently viewing one image to the other but I just brought both images up at the same time and toggled back and forth and the OP is much more red (the hawk looks really good!)? Maybe someone else has an answer to this?

chrome is not color managed afaik. firefox is.
however, if both images are sRGB, colors should look the same when viewed in the same browser (any browser) I'd imagine.
colors look the same on my firefox + win7 box.

here's a theory Dan:
the larger pic is 1280 x 853 px in height. If your laptop screen resolution is smaller than that, it's possible your browser resizes it for you - doesn't show the actual size of the image.
if so, see if you can get the browser to show you the actual size before you compare the two.

I think your browser is not color managed, the large file has embedded profile your browser cannot read and therefore does not show the right colors... If you open the same file in PhotoShop it will be displayed differently.
Also I would not use a laptop screen, especially one that suffers from limited view angle to judge colors. You need a calibrated IPS panel if you are serious about color photography, sorry there is no way around this :w3

Hi Dan,
When I recommended viewing the larger image at its actual size, I was under the impression that both files were sRGB profiles (because the EXIF viewer firefox add-on I use told me so!)
I just opened the large file at home, and it is RGB where as the OP is sRGB.
This would explain why you see a color difference on a non color managed browser. I am not sure how chrome/IE decides to present non sRGB files.
I remember reading that there was a hack/workaround to launch chrome in a color managed mode. You might google for it.
I've honestly always stuck with firefox.
