nice portrait Karl, was this a wild bird? if so good job getting close.

As presented the details look a bit coarse and over sharpened

I agree with Arash RE the oversharpening, but will commend you on the beautiful color & exposure, lovely BG too. How in blazes did you get so close to a RS hawk? Well done...

This is one terrific portrait Karl. I do not find it oversharpened. The detail in the feathers and face are excellent. No nits from me,

Lovely close up and great BG, cant comment on the detail/sharpening as I am viewing from a different monitor to normal...Nice comp, maybe a slivver off the top! TFS Karl!

Thank you all. Arash, I oversharpened it mostly for your sake as I have always been criticized by you, not to sharpening it enough. Funy how it works sometimes. :S3: So please consider it as an attempt trying to please you. It did not work.:S3: Actually I never liked oversharpened pictures and I still don't.If it was a captive bird Arash, I would have disclosed it. It was a bird that I have a few shots, hunting right along the boardwalk of Cork Screw Swamp Nature Reserve.This was the first shot before I had a chance to walk back and take the extender off.I almost forgot to mention two things: both of us, my wife and I are bird whisperers. They come to us.The other: by name I'm a Hawk. My original name on my native tongue means Karvaly which is the national bird of ours and I'm proud of it.So I don't have to go close to birds, they come close to me.:c3:

Hi Karl, thanks for sharing your background - interesting. I like the inquisitive angled pose, together with the colours. Being so close has given us a great view of that dangerous beak. Sharpness mentioned, but I dont find it overly sharpened.

Thanks Karl, try using smaller radius for sharpening.

Excellent portrait.
The BG color is terrific.
Sharpening look fine on my monitor.
You should post a "bird whisperer" e-manual!

Hello Karvaly!

You are not the only one that have trouble at the sharpenning department! but I do agree that this one is a bit oversharpened even for my eyes. Pose, HA and super clean BG is very good though.

I also think it's oversharpened too much. This is what I mean by overdoing post processing. When we look at a bird our human eyes don't see things that sharp. Your instint was correct , don't over sharpen.
