Hi Another example of these beautiful mini Toucans. Again from very close quarters on my favorite Finca near Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica Raw conversion using DPP, NR in Topaz, levels and SS to finish Canon 7D 100-400 F 5.6 SS 1/125 from Tripod Ev -.33 Spot AF A1 Focus ISO 800

Awesome shot with fine detail, BG and perch!! ONe nit: I might tweak contrast, gamma and or the blackpoint to darken the blackish feathers on this wonderful bird!

You just got to love the Puerto Viejo area of Costa Rica, huh Richard!!! There last spring for 4 days and hated to leave!!

Very nice comp and HA. It isn't quite tack sharp around the eye. Likely due to low SS.I would do a bit of selective sharpening here. His tail feathers look like they have taken quite a beating!! BG is good for CR! I find the OOF area of the branch quite "heavy" in LLC. Still a very nice image that I like a lot,
Gail
What does Finca mean?

Hi Mike Yeah truly a magical place; massive potential for birds, more than 120 species seen in this one garden area and lane alone. also a mega rator sire, one of only 3 in the world

Black reset , centre of eye now 0,0,0; also Sel S eye and rim

What an incredible bird! Lovely pose, detail and colors. Would try to smoothen the BG a bit.

Great looking bird and together with the BG and mossy perch it gives a great sense of the tropics.
