I originally posted this one in Landscapes, but it was lost during the problems, so I decided to repost it as a Fractalius. This scene is just up the road from my home and was captured at sunset during a slight cold snap...-25 Celsius. For this effect I chose the 'soft' preset and played with the sliders until I came up with something I liked and applied it to a background layer with the opacity reduced to 75%. I thought about masking out the lines in the foreground snow, but sort of liked them too.

Look forward to comments.

Love the lone tree and the processing Andrew, BG colors are lovely. The new Star Effects by Topaz could put a beautiful starburst in this image!

Nice image and application, Andrew.

Like the soft fract and the snow effect.

As for the temps, been there and done that. That's why I moved to Florida, though it's been cool down here of late, but not below +20 F at night. :w3

Wonderful composition, Andrew. The lone tree stands out in that beautiful bg. Excellent use of filters.

I really like this also. Great composition. I think you were right in leaving the foreground lines. I think this scene would also be great as a landscape with the tree on the left side if you have a capture like that. Much potential.

-25 Just another winter day....I really like the original you posted on your blog, this fracted rendition was a great idea. Leave the lines in front. Well Done

Clean and cool. A lovely image, and not overly processed.

Love everything about this one: the image design, the treatment, and the lines in the snow and the sky. Very well done.

Hi Andrew! This is a lovely image and the fractilius has made it unique. I like the effect on the tree and I like those fg lines. They kind of add a whimsical feel to the image and help to unify the composition. If it were mine I might remove the lines from the sky...but thats just me! Nice work here!
