A few weeks ago while on my way to photograph a lovely male Snowy Owl in a large agricultural area near my home, the patterns of ice, snow, and open water along the Holland River, which flows through the agricultural lands at this site, caught my attention. Winter photography around my home this year has been hit and miss due to the lack of snowfall.

Look forward to comments.

Lovely winter abstact composition, Andrew. Like the curving lines, blues, and balance to this. Nice quiet, calm feel to it. btw - Congrats on your Ontario Landscape guide, I just saw that available online at the birdsasart store. Have to check that out!

This is just great - simple but yet very powerful image.

Well done Andrew for the reasons mentioned above.

I know this is not noise but what is causing the dark dots on the ice and snow?

Thanks all for the comments, much appreciated.

Robert, to answer your question, this may be a bit of soil from the surrounding agricultural fields that are on both sides of this river.
