Colobus

Arusha National Park. I went there with the intention of photographing colobus monkeys, knowing that they can be difficult to see out of the heavy shade of the forests. We were fortunate that the troop we were watching eventually moved into the sunshine and although it was a 2 hour wait, we managed a few images which didn't have branches and leaves across faces.

Well worth the wait I would say Hilary, and I like the dominant colours in this image, black, white and green. Also like the tail lying parallel on the branch, and catchlight and colour in the eyes. Well presented colobus shot for me.

It's hard to get them in anything but dense foliage and I think your patience paid off in terms of getting a "clean" portrait here. Nicely exposed too. It's a pity the light was a tad harsh already...but hey not much you can do about that. Did you get any shots inside the forest?

Hi Hilary, nicely composed with good detail in the fur, with no blown whites :bg3: I just feel it needs some contrast to give it some 'pop' and depth to the subject, but just watch the face. May wish to selectively apply any adjustments.
