Here's one that I had posted last week but it got lost in the data crash (or whatever it was). Taken on my 2009 trip to the Sabi Sands Game Reserve in South Africa. This was late morning so the light was already a little strong. This was the repost after some suggestions by Steve K.

Canon 50D
100-400 @ 400mm
1/500
f8
ISO 200
HH from safari vehicle, luminosity mask, levels, curves, slight s/h, cropped to vertical from horizontal and sharpened in CS5.

C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,
Rachel

Ah yes, I remember this image. I did a repost with bit more color saturation and lightened a bit the shadows, especially the eyes

Thanks VPN and Tom. Yes Tom, I lightened the shadows a little more (including the eyes) but sorry, I did not like the increase in saturation that you had done. I believe the colors as posted are more true.

Thanks again,
Rachel

Very nice portrait Rachel and I think you have extracted optimum IQ. Very nice soft background adds much to the overall look here.

Processed well with the harsh light, Rachel.

My personal nit would be the shooting angle, as I would have prefered the image more eye level.

Lovely portrait Rachel, good detail and the colours look right to me. I also like the head angle which makes for a more interesting portrait.
