Graceful Honeyeater (Meliphaga gracilis) Daintree Queensland
Canon EOS 7D Lens 400mm L USM ISO400 F7.1 1/800 available light 2 July 2011 4.51pm

One of a series on trying to sort Graceful Honeyeaters from Yellow-spotted Honeyeaters both occur in Queensland Far North. Lloyd Neilson from Mount Molloy gave me some pointers and just now I had Lloyd check my ID. There were numbers of both the above species some Bridled HE (posted previously), many Dusky Honeyeaters and only a few Macleays HE where we were staying at Daintree.
Thanks for viewing

Very interesting capture, and not at all what I expected from the thumbnail. The BG to the right of the bird could probably be toned down a bit but, overall, I really like this image. Love how sharp the bird is and it's pose in relation to the flower. Really well done.
