Female Black-throated Gray Warbler
Southern California

This was taken towards the end of the summer well out shooting Raptors. This cute little Warbler was migrating south and landed by where I was shooting and gave me a nice pose with a good bg not the greatest perch but I liked the bends and curves in it to work with the composition. I don't think I've seen many pictures of this species posted on BPN.

Nikon D300s AFS 600 F4 1/2000 F7.1 ISO 500

Thanks For Looking

Nice one, James, and great looking bird. Like the pose, detail, smooth harmonious neutral color BG, and curve of branch does add to comp. You did well managing what looks like some bright light. Experimented taking some off rt. to make head less centered, but then comp is too square.

nice pose and eye contact, great details. I'd consider running some NR in the tail and chest areas. TFS

Hi James, I like the perch too, and how you have placed the warbler in the frame. The little hint of yellow adds interest, and the BG colour compliments the warbler nicely. I agree, there is noise visible on the bird.

Agree with slight noise on the bird , but other than that this is a lovely one. Awesome 3D effect in this frame !

I love warblers and am always happy to see one posted. I like your choice of composition and the curvy branch adds interesting lines. Love the greens in the Bg. Excellent IQ.

James, these are difficult to pull off without setups. I love the BG here. for a non-setup shot, I'd say the perch is very nice as well. what a pose...well done.
