Grace's recent image of this bird reminded me of this shot. I like it because of the stones in the BG.

Gail:

Your turnstone is sharp, well exposed, rocks go with the name, good BG and shooting angle.

Light was a bit harsh (dark shadows) but you have managed it well.

I really think the tail shadow on the rock is a nice detail.

Cheers

Hi Gail, I always look for these guys when Im down at the coast. Busy characters, always on the move. Good low perspective here, and I really like the colours and feather detail - tack sharp too. Love the colours of the OOF BG.

Fine job handeling the tough light. Beautiful details and great low angle make this a winner.

Nice detail on the bird, Gail.
The light does look harsh, but the environment makes it work.

killer image Gail. and yes i do love the setting here as well.
i see a little more wider frame inclusion of more blank space on right as another option.

Great picture. Great BG. I like rocks. I find it hard to get good pictures of this bird, but I liked this. I wish there was more room in front of the bird, so that the eye is almost in the center of the image.:S3:
