Crunch!

The final of my little Coyote stalk sequence.
Nothing too dramatic, a bad end to a field Vole.
I was close enough to hear it, three chomps and a gulp!

Dan, I like this very much … well captured. It would have been nice to have positioned the animal more to the right of frame but I like the foreground grasses and even the wispy oof grasses in the background. Perhaps a slight increase in local contrast? Too much?

Dan - nicely captured with good dof and I like the boost in Hilary's repost and agree with her about the position in the frame. The grasses seem a little yellow to me but it may have been that way.

An excellent finale to your series and I like the title. Good low angle and good view of the mouth and prey. Good composition. I like the blue grey in the BG. If this was mine I would clone out the grasses that cross the coyotes body ( 4 in total). TFS

Nice ending here Dan, good pose and POV...I agree with Hilary's contrast tweaks and her assesment on placement in the frame.
Perhaps cropping tigher here will enhance an already great image? Crop a bit from top and RHS and see if you like it? :tinysmile_shy_t:

Thanks all and Hillary, I like the repost.
The contrast helps, it was a foggy morning and the fog had just lifted
When I stumbled onto to the Coyote, so all of these photo's looked a bit soft due to
A lot of moisture in the air.
I appreciate the repost and the critiques.

regarding the image overall I find both too saturated, especially the grass. Personally I might drop the saturation, give a bit more in Curves & Contrast on the Coyote to give the subject greater depth & presence and a hint more USM. Perhaps even darken the Blue/Grey sky to give the subject more presence within the frame.

Steve nailed this critique. Your first image, OP, is moving in the right direction. The re-post is overkill. The soft light, mist and fog are a bonus to me. Good image, a few minor tweaks as Steve suggest would make it a hang on the wall winner.

Nice low angle and I like the FG and BG grasses and colors. Coyote gave you a nice profile and view of the action. You should hear one chomping down on a prairie dog head :bugeyed:.
