Sumac is a great source of seed food for a lot of birds, especially in late fall when other sources are not so plentiful. I set up at this sumac and waited until this repeat visiter Black-capped Chickadee returned. I asked it to put its tail on the other side of the branch but to no avail. All C&C welcome and appreciated.

Canon 1D Mark IV, 500mm f/4L +1.4x, ISO:800, f/7.1@1/1000, EC: +0.7, AP, AI Servo AF, center-weighted average metering, Gitzo 3530LS, leveling head, Jobu HDII gimbal. PP: Cropped from horizontal frame, levels, curves, S&H, sharpening with Topaz and Ps5. Cloned out stray twig on right.

Dan, you have captured a very nice posture beautifully. Though the tail gets partially hidden, it works for me.
TFS!

Dan, nice shot. You selected a very nice perch and BG. exposure seems perfect...pose and angle are also very good. IQ, sharpness....its all there.

I can see some space cropped from the left side and some more canvas added above.

This is bright and clean like a shiny new penny! Excellent feather and sumac details. I love how the sumac curves over the chickadee and the great bkgd of blurred color.

Great chickadee shot. Love his little right foot clenched on the sumac. Great detail, beautiful perch. Just wish for a little more room at top.

For those who liked a bit less room on left and a little more canvas on top ... thanks for input!

Excellente! From the repost I would suggest a bit off the right and the left to get to true 2X3. Love, love, love the soft light, the sumac itself, the SH, and that front foot.

Thanks Artie - I don't pay enough attention to crop proportions. This one is very close to 2 x 3.

Hi Dan, lovely setting overall, and just love how the little guy is holding on. The light is tops. Comp wise, I would go with your version in pane #10 with a little off the LHS. :w3

Lovely perch and pose. Light looks a bit harsh to me though.
