Very impressive Peter, having the black outlining the lower mane works well and I think it gives the image more depth. Would like to have had the left eye (as viewed) more open, as per the right. :w3 Did you try it in B/W?

Nice to see you back, and yes, I owe you & Wim a note, just been really busy since getting back and away again now.

Kept the intro brief I see. :bg3:

Peter - welome back! Great comp, dof and the black bg does work really well. I agree with Steve about the eye but probably not a lot you could do about it.

Peter,

Wonderful portrait. Nice side light, but with other light reflecting into the shaded side of the lion's face, the shadows are not too deep. Thus is a high phase angle image and is making for wonderful fine detail in the fur. Nicely done, and I like the tight composition.

Very nicely done, Peter. I agree with Roger on the attractive angle of illumination, and the resulting fine detail. The very tight comp works well here also.

Peter,

I have looked at this a few times, I do not mind the scar tissue above the eye, great detail.

Is the black BG a nice black mane, if so I would certainly like to see it .

Beautiful light and fur detail. I too, wish the left pupil was more visible. Love the black BG at the bottom of the frame as well,
Gail
