Oooh! I'm a sucker for raptor portraits and vultures are no exception. Nice feather detail and sharpness against a pleasing BG.

Ian and Brendan - thanks for the nice comments. I love watching these guys, in the morning they dry their wings on the sun and soar off into the wind. They are often misunderstood and some time hunters take shoots at them. This is of course totally unacceptable and we need to better educate people on their worth and importance.

Beautiful portrait Jeff! Great feather detail and pose. Background is very smooth. I think sometimes hunters will shoot at anything. :bugeyed:

You are so right, when ever duck season starts (can't stand to see them shot either) seems like I see more Vultures with injured wings around here - maybe I am drawing incorrect conclusions. Anyway, I have seem a few with injured wings lately and tried to help when possible. This really makes me pause.
