This is a tiny and very fast bird. It landed on the branch just a second and I took the photo.

C & C much appreciated

Thanks

Great looking bird, and nice timing to capture such a speedy little bird, Julien. Nice color, details, and like the diagonal perch. BG seems to distract just a bit from the bird. I might try a little blur and toning down, but still well composed.

A new version with less noise on the background and a bit of sharpening on the bird

Repost looks good - would like a bit of head turn towards us in a perfect world. I can imagine that these are hard little guys to get images of - without some sort of set up.

BG looks better on the repost, but now the subject looks oversharpened (looked good on the OP). A better HA would have been nice, but as you say they are flighty little buggers and don't sit still for too long if at all. Do you have more room below? If so it may be a better comp as a vertical by adding back canvas there and a bit above, then cropping in from the right. If not, then more space all around as a horizontal may also work (but still keep the kinglet more to the left).

Wonderful shot. I like the background on the repost, but as Daniel stated the bird does look over sharpened. Real nice light and perch.
Well done.
