Cool looking bird, Gary, and like the pose with the berrys and surrounding habitat. Looks like you handled the harsh light pretty good. The body of the bird looks a bit smooth, wondering this may be from some NR, and there is slight blur around berrys and beak area, so perhaps faster shutter speed.

nice pose and the berry adds to the image, agree the bird looks quite soft and lacking in details, too much NR perhaps.

Now thats just plain greedy - two berries in the beak.:w3 With regards to the above comments, I would be interested to find out how you processed this with regards to selection and NR.

I'm curious about the cause of the smoothness too as it sometines happens to me. I sometimes think itīs high iso but cerainly not in this case.

I just did a general noise reduction and sharpening of the whole image. I find that with cedar waxwings their feathers often have a very flat appearance. The waxwing was just about to swallow the berries so a faster shutter speed would have helped with the slight blur there. Thanks for your comments.
