I posted this mainly to see if anyone knew what this thing is. I was leaving the house when I saw this on the sidewalk, ran back in and got the camera and tripod and shot a few frames. It moved very steadily, very slowly. I turned it over but could not see any legs. This is about 40% of the original and I had to save it at quality 4 setting to get it to fit for this site.

Nikon D700, 105mm micro, tripod. 1/13, f32, iso 400. Adjusted wb, exp., blacks in acr. S/H, usm in cs3.

I'm pretty sure it's the caterpillar for Isa textula, the Crowned Slug Moth. They have a nasty sting so be careful if you handle one!

Jack, for somebody who was just "taking a shot" you sure did a great job! The placement in the image is great...the clarity and focus is well done, the background is interesting against that colorful green caterpillar. It all works so well together!

Ken, is there no bug you do not know? You simply amaze me... :w3
