Nice detail. Looks like flash? A nice pose that would also look good as a vertical.

Love how he is looking out of the top of a snag instead of on a branch. And the eye color repeated in the background is perfect. Very clean shot.

Neat roosting spot, and looks like it was at eye level too! Good details, and I like the head looking down pose. I wish for a tad more room at left and that the face area was better lit (especially the eye area). A great find, well done.

One sweet shot. Would love to see it as a vertical , however this composition works very well.

Julien:

Lovely little fellow, I really like him popping out of the trunk.

Because of the brightness of the background, I found him a bit muddy looking in comparison, so did a little localized contrast work on the bird only. Just an option for you.

I might also consider a version where the BG is toned down a bit as well..

Sweet image.

Cheers

Julien:

Here is a second version with the BG toned down a bit. I think it helps him stand out a bit better. Personal taste really

Last repost killer. Now it just needs the greens toned down a bit (desaturated....) Thanks Randy.

Is this a free and wild bird???

Thanks Julien. I am confused by the word "effectively." Please explain :S3:.

Julian,
A very cool image, what an excellent find, not often I have seen them coming out the top of a cavity like that. Doubt you have the canvas but would love to see this vertical as well.

Sorry It is a mistranslation :e3. I meant that it's a free and wild bird. I found it in the nature :S3:

Julien, I like the attentive stare, and just love where is perched. Randy's repost works well, and I could see this as a vertical too.

Superb photo of a great subject. The slightly out of focus wood in the foreground contrasts wonderfully with the crisp detail of the plumage.
