Original created during a snow squall on the recently concluded Homer IPT. Lady D was along. Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens with the EOS-1D Mark IV (hand held at 130mm). ISO 1600. Evaluative metering at zero: 1/640 sec. at f/2.8. Had to focus manually as best I could as AF caught the snow.... Once I saw this on the laptop I knew what I wanted to do: single frame Photomatix HDR Tone-mapped and tweaked off the first natural looking preset: Enhancer Default. Then NIK Color Efex tonal contrast at 80%. Overlaid that on the original and painted away the eagle so that the original showed through.....
Don't be shy: let me know if you love it or hate it or anything in between.

It has a surreal, confetti look. Very interesting and different. I like it. The lone eagle really makes this special.

Hi Arthur, this looks like it would be a great scene without the processing you did as well. Agree with Denise that the eagle makes this shot work. I like the processing...it almost looks like a texture was applied. Lovely!

Artie, this looks great! The colors of the lichen have come out well. The lone eagle and snow flakes makes this surreal.

Thanks for posting the original. That is a killer cliff face. I like the fallen tree to the right of the Eagle. Maybe a smidge of 'tonal contrast' to the cliff face to make it pop a little more.:S3:

This is truly lovely, Artie. I like the colors and mood you've set here. The lone eagle is perfect.

Thanks all. Andrew, this has been Tonal Contasted :). Maureen, there were two eagles...

OOPS, I missed that. I guess that's what happens when you try to look at images on a 10" netbook. :bg3:

No, that is not the problem. I Quick Mask covered the 2nd eagle as it was barely visible :e3.

Hi Art, nice effect along with soft coloration. Wish only the eagle was a bit bigger. Without a descriptive title it would be hard to recognize...

Artie, it really does look like a Seurat - I like it a lot:S3: (that rhymes:bg3:)
