This image was created right before a beautiful snowstorm. The whites are dingy-he was a dirty bird. There is noise and it could be sharper but I loved the pose and the moment. On my blog today I added snow to the image for fun. I did not want to add contrast to the BG since this is the way it really looked, it was raining and sleeting.

The subdued light helped you get a solid exposure on both bird and BG. Like the fanned tail and wing position. And I agree with your self critique. Are you still planning on getting together with Kristin? Hopefully we can all get together!

Tough shooting conditions. You maximized the opportunity. Great mood to this. It conveys the conditions you were working under. The bird small in the comp. works very well here.

Denise;

The pose is great, looks like he is just hanging there, like the comp. BG works for me.

Agree about the IQ areas you mentioned.

Look forward to more.

Cheers

I too like the composition, I agree regards sharpness, it is good but just not quite there. ( I only say this because I have new glasses to day I would not have noticed otherwise:S3:)

Hi Denise, lovely flight posture, and I really like how the BG is so distant. The soft light has brought out the whites nicely. Alaska is on my bucket list. :w3

nice setting and composition. Hard to judge the sharpness at this size...but I'll take your words that it is not as sharp as your usual high standards :-) well done on the head turn.
