This a full frame picture.
Shot from my car.

Levels, shadows/ highlights, hue/saturation, neat image, and USM.
I reworked the eye to remove "steel eye" from the bottom part, the top part of the eye are palm trees and the sky reflected on the birds eye.

Canon EOS 40D, EF500mm f/4L IS USM +1.4x, Flash -2, Better Beamer

1/125Sec, F6.3, Exposure Compensation 0, ISO Speed 250, 700.0 mm

Comments and recommendation are welcome.

Very nice, Raul. Love the multicolored, soft background. Bird is nice and sharp. My only nit is the branch shooting out of the corner. That is an art no-no, because it emphasizes the rectangular shape of the frame.

Very nice head angle, details and interesting BG. I agree with Fabs regarding the perch.

Thanks Fabiola, I guess that shows how much I know about good composition... now that you have mentioned I don't remember many pictures compose this way...

Can somebody recommend a source for rules of composition?
Thanks, Raul

Despite the composition nit, the bird is beautifully crisp, sharp and has a nice BG.

For other unexperienced photographers that struggle with composition, you may find this article helpful. I probably not the best to judge the article, but seems relevant.
