A very nice image in nice light, Mike. I like the DOF with both in focus. There appears to be a few hot spots in the whites - a typical issue with loon photos, I've found. I'd wish for a little more room in the frame - top and left. These are minor nits in an excellent photo.

Crop is a little tight for me but thats just a personal pref.

Was this taken from shore, a kayak, or how? In our area, Northren Michigan, you need 1000mm to get in this tight, sometimes more. I really like it. Thanks for sharing.

Extremely well done. Great use of d-o-f. Agree with a bit more room. Love the big baby but wish that it's eye were more open... Am surprised that nobody mentioned that as you cannot see the pupil.

Thanks guys. This was a full frame image taken from the back of my boat last summer, I have a fair share further back after I moved the boat backwards with the trolling motor. They are pretty mellow around boats where I photograph them, it helps to use a silent trolling motor and keep the movement in the boat to a minimum.
