Love the flies and the second OOF vulture looking over the carcass. Like the feather detail and light. Super sharp. May lighten the BG black spots a bit.

Dumay,
This is a beauty, presumably the Giraffe carcass had been there sometime judging by the "whitewash".
The look is of total innocence:cheers::cheers:

Great shot Dumay - terrific pose of the vulture, perfect light and details. The mess on the carcass and the flies really give a powerful touch of reality - I hope you kept up-wind.
Ken - I would be very worried if that look passed for "total innocence"! They must be pretty hard down around Greyton!

Dumay:
I think it all came together here. The flies, white wash, second bird. This one struck me on a visceral level, that a giant creature like a giraffe, in the end is nothing more than a perch and meal for the scavengers.
I must getting too old, feeling my own mortality a bit.
Impact in a photo trumps all else. Well captured.

Gerald,
Whilst I agree that normally Vultures can look quite threatening, I felt that this one had a air of what me?
Randy,
"Impact in a photo trumps all else", my feelings entirely:S3:

Exquisite light mate, and just love the overall detail and sharpness. The colours of both the BG and giraffe compliment each other. Well captured.

Lots going on here, and I mean that in a very good way. Quite a powerful image. I'd only tone down the darkest area of the BG. Two thumbs up from me!!

This image tells a great story, sad as it is. I like that you left the on looking oof bird in the image almost like he's waiting his turn.. The flys and bird droppings show well that this is a carcas that has been down for a bit. Great Image:cheers:
