This was taken at Rietvlei Dam (Gauteng) this morning. Used burn tool on some areas in BG.

Canon Lens 100-400mm
f5.6 +0.33 compensation

You sure came close to it by the looks of this, Pieter! Love the detail. Light seems to have been a tad harsh - late morning?

Beautiful detail on a gorgeous bird. The harsh light on the rock might use some more burn, to make it less distracting.

Bird looks a little frazzled.:S3: Nice colors, exp on the bird looks good. Agree with darkening the rock, sad the light angle shaded part of the blue on the tail. All in all I like it.

Thanks Morkel - Yes it does look like late morning - we were in at 6 a.m and this pic was taken just before 7. The sun was already very bright in fact, we called it a day by 8.30 a.m.
Bill - Thank you and agree with you that the rock needs more work.
Gary - Thank you for your comments. I think that the bird might just have had a splash in nearby water as it was already very hot for that time of the morning.
