Barn Swallow

Upper Texas Coast

D3, 300/2.8, 1.4TC, ISO 800, f5, 1/5000.

If the Hawks didn't show up, we would practice our flight acquisition on the Swallows migrating through.
These erratic and fast flyers would make getting on a Hawk so much easier.

Hi Alan, this is incredibly awesome! I think it is the best barn swallow shot I've seen.

Great picture. Perfect composition. Did you use some fill flash? The catchlight is dead center in the eye while the sun comes from the right. (I think that the Nikon system synchronizes at this high of shutter speed)

Hey Rene, no flash, just early morning light.

This is the early morning light that makes those shadows so pleasing. Thank you for the info.

Exceptional shot. Perfect freezing. Like the harmonic wings & tail spread & excellent underwing details. TFS

These guys are so hard to get and you managed quite well with a super pose. The light and detail on the wings and tail feathers are awesome.
