I was on a half-day pelagic trip out of Sambro, into the N.Atlantic, off Nova Scotia recently. We saw several rarely seen birds, some of which I hope to post, and this was 1 of 19 Cory's shearwaters - a bird I have only ever had a fleeting glimpse (and no photos) of before.
Nikon D7000, 300 f/4 AF-S, 1.7TC, hand-held (boat wasn't rocking too much), 1/4000, f6.7, ISO auto (camera chose 1600). Given that it was a bright day, I should have backed off on the ISO, and perhaps used a slower shutter speed and still got a sharp picture.
Moderate crop, USM and Noise Ninja.
Thanks for looking -- Richard
