From the same location of my previous post of a Black-headed Heron at the University of Pretoria sports ground. A grey heron coming into perch. I hope to go back in the near future to capture some new images.

Love the bird, the pose, and you did well despite the bright light. The chopped off Sacred Ibises on the other hand..... Here is a great digital trick: when you see an image like this on the back of the camera and it looks sharp, take a few images of the top of the colony without any birds cut off or even of the colony with no birds if possible (with the same exposure of course). Then, add two and two and you are good to go :S3:.

Hey thanks Artie. I agree the two 'chopped' off Ibis's are a tad distracting - either full birds or no birds. Gonna go back and get a better shot as mentioned in my introduction. :w3

Stuart:

Love the incoming bird and the two sitters, darker sky, wing position, all good. A bit more DOF would have been nice.

Artie - this is a great point about the extra images. We all have clipped various bits and pieces, and if we thought to record the extra frames for rebuilding purposes, some very fine images could be saved or improved. You just have to remember to do it at the time! I know you have mentioned it before, but it bears repeating!

Cheers

Nice capture Stuart in the tough light conditions. The feather detail looks nice on the heron. Thanks for the tip Artie, I'll remember that.:c3:
