1dMK 4, 500mm + 1.4ext. 1/2000 @ 7.1 500iso. EV -1/3.

Caught this Royal Spoonbill having a good preen. Thought about some shore clean up to the left but didn't do anything.

Great exposure and details in the whites. Like that eye and preening pose. Comp looks good.

Good job on the EXP and the perfect preening head angle. A vertical for the virtual legs would have worked. Amazing that with the seemingly harsh light that you got the iris so red.

Tom, I like pose and the details.
I think it is a bit tight in the frame and would look fine with a looser crop.
I don't mind the shore at all, I would just maybe run some NR on the background.

Didn't clip them this time and pulled back in ACR to around the 236 mark. The light here is pretty unforgiving - 7.33am!!!

I did try a blur/NR on the BG but given my PS skills was not happy with the result.

Can we see? And yes, in places with very clear air the light can get harsh even at 7:33 am....
