Very nice shot of my favourite raptor.

Absolute mind blowing image of this mighty raptor. expo is really good to expose blacks but somehow the whites got blown out on my MBPRO on the back of bird.

Craig:

Striking, very serious looking bird.

Love the pose. Might consider moving him to the left in the frame if you have a little more room on the right.

Could tone down the brightest spots in the backround and the lichen a bit.

Cheers

Not a fan of squire crops. Will try a landscape crop with a tad less space on the left and more on the right for her to look in to. Nice details and bg. Well done.

Would not want to mess with him, mean looking girl. Agree with the above critiques.

I like the pose and perch. The talons seem a bit sharper than the head. I also see a bit of a halo around the bird; did you select the bird and darken the BG? I too would like to see more of a conventional crop.

Thanks for your comments Doug... I used a luminosity mask to bring out more detail in the blacks, hence the halo's but overhaul sharpness on the bird is maintained.... I see the conventional landscape crop is in demand :w3 :w3

Good stuff above. I actually see the halo. There is a smattering of hot white pixels but actually as presented the orange legs and bill are showing over-exposed most likely from a combo of over-saturation and jpeg creation. If you starat from scratch you should easily be able to control the hot spots.

Can you post the full frame original image?

MIssed getting this guy who was very high on my wish list !! This is a lovely potrait !! Brilliant feather details , but agree that the whites look a wee bit hot , but nothing that takes away overall from the image !!!

Stunning image. Love the pose but especially the stare. Real nice detail and great control on the blacks.
Well done.
