Taken off from one of the many drowned trees in Lake Kariba surrounding, Rhino Island, Matusadona NP, Zimbabwe, 21st September 2011.

EOS 1D MkIV

500mm F4 IS hand-held from open game viewing vehicle.

F5.6, ISO, 800, 1/500, EV +0.33

I like the leaning pose, the symmetry of the wing position and the primaries poking out into view, well exposed.

That same pose however means the head merges a bit to much with the wings, and we can't see any underwing detail.

Its not like we want it all, or anything:S3:

I might crop down just a bit from the top, since he hasn't taken off yet.

Ken, I really like these pre-take off poses, and the head turned in the direction he's wanting to go. Good colours on the Juvi, and agree with Randy in taking a tad off the top. Im thinking of taking a touch off the RHS too. :w3

This was probably the only Fish Eagle we saw this time who did not take off backwards, but still young enough to learn that trick:bg3:
